The Armory Room

This display case from Armory Room contains two actual Thompson 21 Machine guns used and registered by the Birger Gang as well as the Colt 45 and Springfield Rifle used by the KKK hired gun, “Raider” S. Glenn Young.  In 1923 the Ku Klux Klan hired Young to rid Southern Illinois of all gang operations.  This is what eventually led to some the bloodiest gun battles ever recorded within the United States.  Some of which required the Illinois National Guard to restore peace.
